of Yiddish education are available from beginner to intermediate
to Yiddish Language and Culture I and II are college level courses
geared for both college students as well as students
of all ages with little or no background in Yiddish. Students
with some background in Yiddish can use this course to burnish their skills.
The Course includes Yiddish conversation, the alef-beys
(Yiddish alphabet), reading and writing. Students will also
learn Yiddish songs, poetry and literature. Yiddish III is geared
to students with knowledge of basic Yiddish grammar, conversation,
and writing or those who have already completed Yiddish I and
II. The course uses Sheva Zucker’s book, “Yiddish, Introduction
to the Language, Literature & Culture Vol. I”.
students will also have access to an on-line Yiddish adjunct course
that provides practice lessons in Yiddish conversation, writing,
and reading through self-quizzes, extra lessons and games.

for over twenty years at Case Western University, the College
of Jewish Studies and the I.L. Peretz Schools.
