Yiddish Classes On-Line –

Introduction to Yiddish Language and Culture I, II, and III

The Dora Teitelboim Institute for Yiddish Education has launched the first Yiddish On-Line college level program in the world.  Registration for the course begins immediately.

The course is accessible to students anywhere via the Internet.  Three semesters of Yiddish education are available from the beginner to the intermediate levels.

Course Details:

Introduction to Yiddish Language and Culture I and II are college level courses geared primarily for college students as well as returning students of all ages with little or no background in Yiddish (however students with some background can use this course to burnish their skills) and will include learning Yiddish conversation, the alef-beys (Yiddish alphabet), and reading and writing.  Students will also learn Yiddish songs, poetry and literature.  Yiddish III is geared to students with knowledge of basic Yiddish grammar, conversation, and writing or those who have already completed Yiddish I and II.  The course uses Sheva Zucker’s book, “Yiddish, Introduction to the Language, Literature & Culture”.

All registered students will also have access to an on-line Yiddish adjunct course that provides practice lessons in Yiddish conversation, writing, and reading through self-quizzes, extra lessons and games.

Instructor:

The course is taught by Professor Mindelle Wajsman, a professor of Yiddish for over twenty years at Case Western University, the College of Jewish Studies and the I.L. Peretz Schools.

Class Meetings:

Registration is available on a ROLLING BASIS for each course. By filling out the registration form you immediately hold a space in the course for the next session. Contact us for more information on future live and on-line presentations as well as accredited levels of this course.
